Il Castello and Ligurian Hills.
A beautiful village located just over the French boarder, provided the perfect getaway for me and my friends. We had plenty to do including going to the beach, relaxing all day at a natural spring, popping into France for the day, eating the best Italian ice cream I have ever had and always having somewhere new to eat with other villages within a 20 minute drive. The picturesque village has a local shop for a morning croissant run, a pizzeria with too many choices for only a 5 day trip and a local bar/cafe where you will be supplied with endless amounts of food. To top it all off, the locals are all so friendly and polite, even when we struggled with their language.
The apartment was beautifully decorated to fit in with the rest of the village, with the luxury of a balcony overlooking the Riviera. The perfect spot for your breakfast or glass of wine in the evening.
I look forward to returning soon!!

10 Essential Questions for Casa Valentino
1. Unique Layout & Floor Plan
What is the layout of the Casa Valentino?
The house is arranged over several levels: the first bedroom is a few steps up from the kitchen. The Lounge is on the floor above that. Continuing up another flight of stairs, you will find the Roof Terrace and the upper half of the large, 2-part mezzanine bedroom. Follow the stairs down to the lower half of the split mezzanine with its own large walk-in shower and bathroom.
Sleeping Arrangements & Capacity
What is the exact bed configuration in Casa Valentino?
The first bedroom features 1 double bed and 1 single bed, an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, sink and toilet. It also boats a 'secret balcony' overlooking the historic passageways. The Lounge offers additional sleeping space with one single bed and a standard size sofa bed. On the top floor, the large mezzanine bedroom is split in two parts: the upper half offers 1 King bed or 2 singles whilst the lower half has 2 single beds.
2. Accessibility & Physical Layout
Are there many stairs in Casa Valentino? Is the house suitable for guests with limited mobility?
There are a lot of stairs in Casa Valentino! This is a typical tower-like historic layout where the house is divided on many floors. The first flight of stairs from the paved passageway leads you up to the front door where you are greeted with more stairs leading into the Kitchen and Dining Room. The Lounge is one flight of stairs above. Continuing on up, you will reach the Roof Terrace and Upper Mezzanine Bedroom. The final set of stairs lead down into lower mezzanine bedroom. This traditional verticale design makes this house extra special! Please note we do not recommend guests with mobility issues in this house. We have other houses for those who may not enjoy this vertical adventure. If you are unsure, contact us.
3. Kitchen & Meal Prep
How well-equipped is the kitchen?
Casa Valentino offers a gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, plates and cutlery. There is not a conventional oven but we do have an oven-box that can also grill.
4. How many bathrooms are there and what are the facilities?
Casa Valentino has two bathrooms both with large feature baths and walk-in showers, toilet and sinks.
5. Connectivity & Remote Work
What is the Wi-Fi speed, and is there a dedicated workspace?
Yes, we provide Fiber Wi-Fi in Casa Valentino but you will find the Wi-Fi is stronger in some parts of the house than others. Bare with us! The 14th Century thick stone walls make it difficult to have high-speed Wi-Fi in every single angle, but do not fear - you should be able to connect without problems and use your devices online. We suggest the Dining table, first bedroom or Lounge to do any remote online work. There is a Wi-Fi booster in the upstairs Upper Mezzanine Bedroom.
6. Climate Control
Does the house have Air Conditioning and heating in all rooms?
In this 14th century house you will not find air conditioning, but medieval stone walls meters thick that allow the cool air to float around the house. To ensure our guests comfort, there are also portable fans in the bedrooms lounge and kitchen to keep our guests extra fresh.
7. Parking & Arrival
Where exactly do I park, and how many cars are allowed?
There is a large public free car park in Isolabona, the centre of the borgo is pedestrianised to leave your car in the car park and weave your way though the medieval passageways and in just a few minutes you will arrive at the house.
Is it flat or uphill from the carpark to the house? Please remember that we are in the pre-Alps and these medieval villages often have steep steps.
8. Amenities
Is there a washing machine at Casa Valentino? And somewhere to dry clothes?
Yes there is a washing machine and there is space on the roof terrace or balcony to dry clothes.
Are linens and towels provided?
Yes we provide all bed linens and towels.
9. Outdoor Amenities
What is provided for the outdoor area?
On the roof terrace there is a table and 6 chairs, a bench and 2 sun loungers. There is also space to hang out your clothes to dry.
10. No-Pets Policy: To maintain a high standard of cleanliness for all guests, we have a no-pets policy across all our Isolabona properties.
